When to choose a managed private cloud

A private cloud can help organise multiple virtual machines on a planned cluster, with shared operational controls and capacity management. It is most useful when the environment needs to be designed as a whole rather than as unrelated individual servers.

Describe the environment

  • List virtual machines, operating systems, CPU and RAM requirements, storage use and expected growth.
  • Identify which applications must remain available during maintenance and what interruptions are acceptable.
  • Describe network separation, private connectivity, backup requirements and administrator access.
  • Confirm hypervisor and management licences, host specification, number of hosts and included management responsibilities.

A private cloud is not automatically highly available for every application. Guest operating systems, databases, storage policies and network dependencies also need an appropriate design. We will confirm the architecture and commercial scope in the quote.
